This is our third year offering pigs for sale. They are lovingly raised on the farm in Wayne County, PA between May and October. Our pigs live in a comfortable, insulated run-in shed and have 24/7 access to their yard — a large, sloped area naturally lined with red shale (running up and down the hill improves the pigs' muscular development, and some say the mineral content in red shale gives the meat a tastier flavor). They have constant fresh water at their disposal, and are fed a mix of grain feed and veggies from the garden.
To reserve a pig, please select our preferred size and pay the (nonrefundable) $100 deposit. For simplicity’s sake, all size pigs require the same amount for deposit.
COSTS / FEE STRUCTURE
Nonrefundable deposit (paid to the farm now to reserve your pig): $100. The deposit is credited towards your final meat cost.
Meat cost (paid to the farm prior to picking up your meat): $4.00/lb hanging weight. We will notify you of your pig’s final hanging weight in October.
Butcher cost (paid to the butcher at time of pick up): $1.20/lb. Smoking bacon, hams, etc. will be done at the Alpine in Honesdale, PA and will incur additional fees; smoking costs will be calculated as part of your final bill and paid to the butcher when you pick up your meat. You can see a blank cut sheet with customization options here.
When they’re ready, we deliver the pigs to our butcher for custom processing and packing. You can expect to pick up your meat from the butcher shop in Honesdale, PA in late October.
